Biography

Soprano Yingjie Zhou is a rising talent on the international opera stage, recognized for her “sparkling” interpretations of the lyric repertoire. Most recently, she was Selected as a Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Chorus Auditions 2026/2027 season, where she performed the Aria of Pamina (Die Zauberflöte).

In 2024, Ms. Zhou garnered acclaim for her portrayal of Zerlina in Don Giovanni with Amore Opera in New York City. This followed a milestone 2023 season where she performed the role of Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at the historic Estates Theatre (National Theatre Prague)—the very venue where the opera’s composer, Mozart, famously conducted.

Other significant operatic full roles include Noémie (Cendrillon) and Phénice (Armide) with the Miami Music Festival, and Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring) at the Manhattan School of Music. Her repertoire also includes featured scenes as Adina (L’Elisir D’Amore) at the Institut Canadien d’Art Vocal in Montreal (2018), Violetta (La Traviata) with the Manhattan Opera Studio (2017), and Musetta (La Bohème) with Classic Lyric Arts in Italy (2014).

On the premiere stage, she created the lead role of Maria in the World Premiere of Bonfire of the Vanities by Stefania de Kenessey at El Teatro, NYC, a performance featured in The New York Times, Financial Times and IMDb. A seasoned concert artist, she has appeared as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, The United Nations, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing.

She holds both a Master of Music and a Professional Studies Certificate from the Manhattan School of Music.
